Soccer

Noah started soccer last Thursday and is loving it! After listening to him ask for two weeks straight if it was time to go I finally was able to say yes. Once he had on all his gear he hit the floor running!! He has had two practices. The first one they just worked on basic skills. The second one included more skills and then a game. He has been very excited to play!!

One very excited boy with a new shirt and all his gear.

Testing everything out before practice started.

Meeting the coaches and trying to decide whether or not to participate. He went out there just fine and sat well. I think he know the game too well and was wondering why she was making him play 'Simon Says'. They were working on learning that the ball is for kicking and you are not to pick it up with your hands.

Paisley was thinking about joining the team.

Practicing/learning how to dribble. They started out in a small area and then moved to whole field. He did a great job and even showed me how when we got home. We need to work on getting his head up, but that will come.

Team talk before game play. Noah was very hesitant to go after the ball. He knows the game well so he kept his distance and kept waiting for a pass. (He really was in the correct position for receiving those passes too.) However, we had to explain to him during water break that they weren't going to pass to him and to go after the ball.

GOAL!! Not to brag, (maybe just a little) he made four goals in his first game.

Sorry for all the random spaces. I have tried to fix this several times and it's not working. I give up.

Out with the old

Our carpet needed to be replaced once we bought our house. We finally broke down and are new owners of fresh carpet. Here are the before and after pics. Now onto the tile. We are hoping to do that ourselves with the help of my brother.

This is what our house looked like while they were working. We got carpet in four bedrooms, a closet, our living room, and stairs.
After...
Paisley's new bed. It swallows her, but it is now hers. We will get the mattress for it when our new neice Josie is born. For now we just pulled the mattress off the downstairs couch. She doesn't seem to mind. (And for those that didn't understand about her toddler bed...the crib broke. No news here. Sorry).

Princess Party

Paisley was invited to a Princess Party for our neighbor. Along with the theme you were to dress up in your princess attire. I haven't gotten into the dresses for Paisley yet because she is so small, but I did find a dress that would work in her closet. It was one of the flower girl dresses from my wedding that has been passed down. It worked perfectly and she looked fit for a princess party. I went ahead and curled her hair as well, but couldn't bring myself to give her any make-up.

Had to take this picture because Paisley was sitting very nicely on floor watching her friend open presents. Then her present got openned and she jumped up and walked up to take her present back. Of course she didn't take it back, but it was very funny to watch.

Painted toes

I wanted to paint my toes for Spring so I got out the polish and thought Paisley might like her painted as well. She was very excited and say right down. I tried to explain that she had to sit still and then also had to wait til they were dry before she could get up. I don't think she moved an inch once I started and sat and watched her movie until I picked her up and told her she could move. I think I have a girly, girl on my hands!

Nap Time!

Paisley had RSV. Luckily we caught it early and didn't need any treatment, but we kept a good watch on her. I had to teach Sunday School so Noah and I headed to church while Matt and Paisley stayed home. Matt was working on putting in some new faucets. Paisley was helping, but then disappeared. Apparently the bean bag in her room was a good resting spot. She slept here for a good hour before Noah and I came home.
Later that week while I was working in the basement and Noah was playing wii Paisley decided she needed to take another rest with baby.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day! We did!

The best we could do getting them together.
I made these bags for the kids chairs. I put them on after they went to bed so they were there in the morning for them to see. They were very excited, but it took them til after nap to realize that there was a treat inside. Paisley is the one who figured it out which was even more funny because she could reach inside.

We are all so BIG!!

We had two big events this week...one for each child.
Noah:
On Tuesday Noah started his first day of preschool. I have been homeschooling him since the fall with the intentions of starting this coming fall. However, after looking into the preschool and finding out that he could start any time as long as there was a space we decided he was ready to go. He was very excited and has adjusted well. We are still trying to figure out what he has been doing in school since he won't tell us about it, but he is ready to go on his special days (Tuesday and Thursday) and is already walking in by himself without saying good-bye. We are very thankful he has adjusted so well and is having a lot of fun!
Ready to go!!
Paisley:
Paisley is now the proud owner of a toddler bed. I was making her bed this week and put the side down (Yes, we have the now illegal drop-sided crib that will be replaced if another child comes along) and after trying to fix the sheet the side popped off. I couldn't just the leave the railing half on so I took the other side off and hence...the toddler bed. She is very excited about her new bed and will stay in without any problems so far. It did scare Matt not to have a railing so we took Noah's old rail and have Jerry-rigged it to the side. She is not very fond of this, but we scooted it down just a little so she can now get out if she needs to. Her favorite thing to do in the morning or after nap is to get out of bed and come knock on the door to tell me she awake. (Funny Noah used to do this same thing.)

Snow cont.

Five days after the last snow storm we had another one that was double in size. Matt was snowed in at the house so he got to go outside and play with us among doing his work from home.

Matt making a snow angel.
Paisley wanted to swing: snow or no snow it didn't matter. Noah was just happy to be back outside again.
Noah wanted to build a snowman so bad. He kept trying, but it just wouldn't work. Here Matt is posing with what is left from his snowman five days earlier.
We tried sledding in the backyard, but it didn't work out so well. Number one we don't have a sled (that is the lid to the sandbox) and it just looked like the snow was too thick. Can you find Paisley's shoes?
So we moved it to the driveway...Noah was so excited to try sledding down the driveway. Since we still had yet to purchase a sled we improvised. We took Paisley's old diaper box and tried to see if it would work. It was perfect because it had a slick coating on the outside. Noah had no hesitation what so ever and almost fell before he could even get on the box.
Paisley was eager to try after watching Noah. The only problem was the poor girl was so bundled up she couldn't get up at the end.
Matt's turn...he tried on his knees first only to plow through the snow. The next time I told him to sit and he flew so fast down the driveway he passed our mailbox.
Just another fun snow day for the books!!
